The real cost of shedding season
Brushing outside, then vacuuming the hallway, then lint-rolling the sofa, then finding hair in the laundry anyway. The brush was never the problem — it just moves fur from your dog to everywhere else.

What’s in the case
Twist one off, click the next one on. Every head shares the same sealed airflow path, so whatever you are doing — brushing, clipping, grinding — the hair ends up in the cup instead of the carpet.
Stainless teeth reach past the guard hairs and lift dead undercoat in long strokes. Suction takes it away mid-stroke, so you never get that halo of fur hanging in the air. On a Husky in April this is the attachment you will live on.
Softer, wider pins for short and medium coats. Good for the daily two-minute pass that keeps hair off the sofa in the first place, and gentle enough for dogs who dislike the deshedder.
A ceramic-and-steel cutting head with four guard combs from 3mm to 12mm. Clipped hair goes straight down the airflow channel, which means no drift onto the floor and no hairy jumper at the end.
A diamond-grit wheel takes the nail down in thin passes rather than one nerve-racking snip, so there is no quick to hit. The dust is drawn away as you go, which is the part every owner underestimates.

The part most owners get wrong
A standard household vacuum sits around 80dB — loud enough that a dog’s hearing, which is roughly four times more sensitive than ours, reads it as a threat. We built this around a brushless motor and a lined airflow chamber to bring it down to about 55dB, somewhere between a fridge and a quiet conversation.
Decibel figures are approximate and measured at one metre. Individual dogs still need a few short sessions to settle — start on the lowest suction setting with the unit switched on across the room.

First session
I honestly bought this expecting to return it. First session I did ten minutes on her back and hindquarters and the cup was completely packed. Normally that amount of hair ends up on the rug and I’m hoovering twice. She sat through the whole thing chewing a bone.
One session’s worth
April with a husky is a warzone. I’ve had three deshedding tools and they all just launch undercoat into the air. This actually holds it. Took me two sessions to get through him the first week and now it’s a ten minute job on Sundays. Suction on level 3 for the ruff, level 1 everywhere else.
Does what it says and Milo tolerates it far better than the clippers we had before. Only thing — on a curly coat you have to go slower or it tugs a bit at the tangles, so I brush out the mats first and then use this. Not a fault of the tool really, just don’t expect it to detangle for you.

Nail grinder head
Two labs, two grooms a month, you do the maths. I was sceptical about the nail grinder but it’s the part I use most — no more holding a paw and sweating about the quick. Both dogs stand for it now. The clipper is fine for tidying, I still take them in twice a year for a proper job.

Day four
Pepper hides from the hoover. I left this switched on across the room for three evenings before I ever touched her with it and by day four she was fine. It’s a low hum, not a whine. That alone was worth the money — grooming used to be a two-person job in this house.

Bought it for the dog but tried the soft brush on my long-haired cat on the lowest setting and she’s obsessed with it. She actually comes over when she hears it. Fewer hairballs this month, which was not something I expected to be writing in a review about a vacuum.

Emptying the cup
Small thing that matters more than you’d think. My old handheld sprayed hair everywhere when you opened it. This one drops straight into the bin. Filter rinses under the tap, dries overnight, done. Built better than I expected for the price.

6mm guard comb
The fur between Coco’s pads used to collect everything off the pavement and she’d chew at it. The narrow trimmer head sorts it in about a minute per paw. I use the guard combs at 6mm for her body and it comes out even, which surprised me because I have never cut a dog’s hair in my life.

No complaints about performance — Daisy’s coat looks better than after her last professional groom and there’s no hair on the black jeans anymore. My only gripe is the cord length, I end up using an extension in the living room. Would still buy it again.
Before you ask
Most do, but not on day one. The unit runs at roughly 55dB, which is about the volume of a fridge, and that is far below a household vacuum. The approach that works: switch it on across the room for a few evenings while your dog does something else, then introduce the brush with the suction on its lowest setting. Almost every owner who tells us it did not work tried to do a full groom in the first session.
Yes, and that is where the difference is most obvious. Use the deshedding head on the highest suction level for the ruff and hindquarters. Expect to empty the cup two or three times during a moult-season session on a large double-coated dog — that is a good sign, it means the undercoat is coming out rather than floating around your living room.
You can, with the soft grooming brush on the lowest suction setting only. Cats are more sensitive to both noise and pull than dogs, so keep sessions short and stop the moment they get twitchy. Do not use the clipper or nail grinder heads on cats.
The sealed cup holds 2 litres. For a medium short-coated dog you will get through a full session without emptying. For a large double-coated dog in moulting season, expect to empty it two or three times. It releases into the bin with one button so hair does not puff back out at you.
For weekly maintenance, nail length and paw tidying — yes, comfortably. For a full breed-standard trim on a Poodle, Schnauzer or anything with a specific cut, no, and we would not claim otherwise. Most customers go from monthly appointments to two or three a year and handle everything in between at home.
It is considerably more forgiving than clippers because it removes nail in thin layers rather than one cut, so there is no single moment where you can catch the quick. Take a few short passes, stop when you see a pale oval appear in the centre of the nail, and do one paw a day if your dog is impatient. The grinding dust is drawn into the cup as you work.
Rinse the filter under cold running water once a week or after every few sessions, whichever comes first, and let it air-dry completely — usually overnight — before it goes back in. Running it damp will kill the suction and eventually the motor. The brush heads can be washed the same way; the clipper blade is wiped and oiled instead.
